“Are you happy?” Lexie asked.

“I am. Thanks to you, I have been a happy woman for a while.” She leaned in to kiss Lexie tenderly her on the lips and smiled.

“I’m happy too. In fact, I would like to introduce you to my family.” Mary looked a little panicked at the suggestion, but after some discussion about family openness and acceptance levels of various family members, Mary agreed.

That evening, Lexie took Mary to her parent’s house for dinner. Mary was nervous, but Lexie convinced her that there was nothing to worry about. Her family was very welcoming and they all made her feel at ease. She eventually relaxed, and was able to enjoy their company and Lexie was happy that her family liked and accepted Mary. In fact, a couple of her nieces were enthralled at the fact that Mary was a police officer and wouldn’t leave her side. Her relaxed attitude with the kids made everyone fall in love with her. She was totally at ease with them and did her best to entertain them. After dinner, Mary dropped Lexie off at her house before heading to her own to get to bed. A mandatory early morning meeting at the police station called for an early night and was going to make for an extra long day since she had to work the night shift later.
